Nettles are a commonly found native wild plant in the UK, often treated as a weed. But they are a vital part of our biodiversity - providing food for many insects, including the caterpillars of our native beautiful Peacock Butterfly. They also provide high concentration of Viramin C for us - in soups, teas and more. And one upon a time nettles were the main provider of cordage for tying things together and for making woven fabrics for clothing (an artisan skill you can still find and learn today!).
This leaf was picked from wild plants growing at the bottom of my garden, and was created by layer-painting silver clay paste onto the back of the leaf, and once thick enough, firiing the piece to leave a solid, recycled fine silver replica of the original.
Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver.

Fine Silver Nettle Leaf Pendant measures 3.5 × 1.9cm and 0.1cm thickness. The top of the pendant, including the loop measures 1cm depth. Total drop from bottomg of chain including jump rings is approx 4.4cm. Chain is 45c,/18” Recycled Sterling Silver fine beclcher chain.
Necklace will be wrapped in recycled tissue paper wraped in fine linen thread, and placed in a recycled kraft box and packed with eco-packing ready to post. A little bit of information about the piece and nettles will be included.
