A selection of one-of-a-kind sea-glass necklaces consisting of beautifully shaped sea-glass beans that have been wrapped around the top with solid fine-siilver wire to create a simple and elegant sea-glass pendant. Each one of these necklaces is great on its own, or could be stacked, and would be a perfefct subtle addition to a special outfit for a special occasion.
These pieces of sea-glass were collected by me from a variety of UK beaches and were the perfect shape for this style of pendant, allowing the unique beauty of each piece to be the centre of attention. Each piece used is as it was found other than a hole that has been drilled to secure the silver wire for wrapping. Measurements provdied are approximate due to the uneven shape of each piece of sea-glass.
Details and Measurements
A. Dark Sage Green Sea-glass nugget from Seaham, County Durham (images 1-5): this beautifully smooth and rounded bean in a gorgeous shade of green flares at the bottom and has a cute little dimple : Pendant measures 2m x 1cm x 0.5cm (max) including loop; Chain is 45cm fine trace chain in recycled sterling silver.
B. Pale Sage Green sea-glass bean from Porth-Curno, Cornwall (images 6-10): This lovely piece of sea-glass is slightly larger than usual for me, found on one of my many family holidays to Cornwall. It’s a subtle pale sage-green in colour and a beatifully smooth, slightly curved and very tactile piece with the bubbles characteristic of very old glass. Pendant measures 3cm x 1.5cm x 0.3cm (including loop); chain is 45cm sterling silver belcher chain.
C. White with a subtle pinkish tinge sea-glass from Seaham, County Durham (images 11-16): a dainty piece of very well weathered and worn se-glass with the tell-tale ‘c’ shaped markings of extremely old sea-glass. It also has a slight rust stain ingrained in the glass and a slight pink or lilac tinge to the colouring - likely caused by a reaction between the manganese used in the glass, the salty water and the sunshine over the decades it has been tumbled. Chain is a sold sterling silver belcher chain measuring 45cm.
MADE TO ORDER OPTION: if you like the style but would like a different colour, or if you have your own piece, please do get in touch. I’m very happy to make to order (in fact I often prefer it) and I may have just the piece you want that hasn’t yet been used just waiting for you in my collection.
All jewellery is wrapped in tissue paper and presented in a recycled kraft or black cardboard box and tied with llnen thread.
