Handcrafted Bramble Leaf Necklace with Rare Purple Sea-glass
This dainty Bramble leaf was gathered from the hedgerows near my home in the South Downs National Park in late Autumn last year. It was transformed into silver through silver-clay paste, which was slowly layer painted onto the leaf. When fired, the original leaf and all the organic binders in the clay burn away leaving solid fine silver (999 silver).
I added the gorgeous and tiny, rare piece of amethyst purple sea-glass as a little complementary charm - just like the Blackberries on the bush! The sea-glass was found by me on the beach at Seaham in County Durham, near where my sister lives.
The leaf has been polished to give a soft and gentle matt finish which showcases the dainty sea-glass nugget perfecly.
Bramble is a vigorous and common plant in our landscape, providing beautiful blossom and the delicious Blackberries that are so familiar to many us. These plants provide food and habitat for a myriad of other, non-human life too - super important to our native ecology (even if they are bit prickly!!).
Details and Measurements
Silver Bramble leaf measures approx 1.9cm x 1.5cm max (2.5cm x 1,5cm including loop).
Sea-glass charm measures 1cm x 0.7cm (including loop)
Chain is 45cm recycled solid sterling silver belcher chain
This is a truly one of-a-kind, beautiful and dainty necklace created with nature from a foraged leaf and filled with love.
The necklace will be sent to you wrapped in tissue paper, in a kraft or black box and tied with linen thread.
