Cloudy White Safety-Sea-glass with Silver-Leaf Embellishment Pendant Necklace
This piece of sea-glass was found on the beach in Dorset, and has been worn into a ‘diamond’ shape. The lines in the glass indicate that once-upon-a-time this was safety glass, embedded with metal wire mesh. The imperfect surfaces on the edges of the glass have been brushed with silver leaf, in the spirit of the Japanese ideas of Kintsuki (fixing broken pottery with gold leaf) and of Wabi Sabi, the art of embracing the beauty of imperfections. Nature is not perfect, nor is any piece of sea-glass, and this allows me to create individual and one-of-a-kind pieces of jewellery - like this one.
The sea-glass hangs from a recycled sterling silver 45cm trace chain.
